Win one of six pairs of tickets to join Sali as she hosts a curated collection of inspiring talks

 

 

We are thrilled that Sali is part of this year’s The Beauty Project, which runs from 1st May to 12th June at all Selfridges stores.  The Beauty Project sets out to offer a thought provoking look at the definition of beauty and its role in today’s society.

 

Sali will be hosting talks in London covering topics such as body adornment, ageing, expert beauty picks and body image. She’s also making appearances in London, Birmingham and Manchester to offer advice on products and routines. There are still a few tickets available on www.eventbrite.co.uk.

 

We have one pair of tickets to give away to each of Sali’s London talks, which take place on 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th May and 3rd and 10th June. To enter, please head over to our forum and post in the competition thread for the date you’d like. You may enter for more than one date, and winners will be selected at random. Please note that travel to London is not included in this prize and winners will receive a maximum of one pair of tickets to give as many people as possible a chance. Winners will be announced no less than seven days before each talk.

SALI HUGHES: WE’LL SHOW YOU OURS IF YOU SHOW US YOURS

Sali Hughes invites you to delve into the makeup bags of presenter Lauren Laverne, singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and makeup artist Nic Chapman. During this fun and insightful discussion, find out about the panel’s favourite products and then hear them debate topics such as public grooming and bathroom politics.

SALI HUGHES: SHOULD WE GROW OLD GRACEFULLY OR GO DOWN FIGHTING?

Sali Hughes invites you to debate one of beauty’s most controversial topics. The panel includes journalist and columnist India Knight, TV Presenter and boutique owner Brix Smith-Start, beauty blogger Caroline Hirons and designer, writer and model Pearl Lowe. Discussing societal attitudes towards ageing and whether terms such as ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ are now obsolete, this engaging debate promises to be entertaining and captivating in equal measures.

SALI HUGHES: BEAUTY, GOOD OR BAD FOR OUR BODY IMAGE?

How does beauty imagery make us feel? Is strong the new skinny? Are skinny models the cause, or the scapegoats? Sali Hughes and her panel tackle these tough questions and more. Panellists include columnist and author Hadley Freeman, curve model and fashionista Felicity Hayward and model and blogger Ruth Crilly.

SALI HUGHES: RADICAL ADORNMENT – ARE TATTOOS AND BODY ADORNMENT THE NEW MAKEUP?

Should employers be allowed to discriminate against those with tattoos? Are we just following trends or exercising our individuality? How far is too far? In this talk Sali Hughes invites you to explore such questions with TV chef and qualified piercer Gizzi Erskine, comedy writer Sarah Morgan, world-renowned tattoo artist Dom Holmes and political campaigner and cook, Jack Monroe.

SALI HUGHES: BEAUTY – EMPOWERING WOMEN, OR REINFORCING SEXUAL STEREOTYPES?

Is makeup a matter of self-respect or fear? Are today’s definitions of beauty limiting? Sali Hughes leads the discussion on such topics in this engaging debate that puts the beauty industry directly in the spotlight. The panel includes Beauty Director of Never Underdressed, Joanna McGarry, celebrity stylist Grace Woodward, activist and cook Jack Monroe and Sam Farmer – the founder of a gender-neutral skincare brand.

SALI HUGHES: PRETTY WHITE FEMALE – HOW BEAUTY CAN APPEAL TO EVERY WOMAN

Has Beyonce changed the beauty world? Are beauty brands doing enough for non-white women? In this talk Sali Hughes ask such questions to a panel including Health & Beauty Director of Women’s Health, Anita Bhagwandas, presenter Gemma Cairney and founders of multicultural beauty site, ThandieKay, Kay Montano and Thandie Newton.
