Vicki Loves: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

CLP concealer

Back in April, we ran a competition for forum members to review their favourite product. This, by Vicki, was the winner.

Good budget beauty products tend to fall into one of two categories: good for the price, or just bloody good. This one is definitely the latter.

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer is the end of my long and arduous journey with concealers. First came the blemish sticks of my teens which were impossible to blend and oxidised to a nasty orange. Then a regrettable period when, like so many of us, I was persuaded to use a highlighter as concealer on the advice of a sales assistant (there should be a helpline: missold Touché Éclat? You may be entitled to compensation…). This was not only ineffective, but rendered many photographs from 2004-5 frankly alarming.

And then so many others, from cheap to eye-wateringly spendy, all with their own faults. Nice texture but too pink. Good colour but creased under the eyes. Beautiful shades named after dairy-based desserts, but didn’t live up to expectations. And then I met Lasting Perfection.

A few disclaimers: the shade range is limited, you’ll need to hunt down an unsullied tube that someone hasn’t already employed as a tester, and it needs a good scrub after purchase to prevent black lettering coming off on your hands. But none of this matters when you get the product on your brush or finger and start to play. The lightest shade is perfect for my pallor; the texture is light enough to use on dark circles without creasing, yet dense enough to conceal the angriest cystic spot. Set with powder, it’s going nowhere for the rest of the day. Oh, and the best bit? It’s yours for £4.19. You’re welcome.
